It is a high-efficiency and low-toxicity insecticide, mainly used to control sap-sucking pests such as aphids, planthoppers and whiteflies.
Synthetic Route
Triazinamide reacts with 3-pyridinecarboxaldehyde to produce pymetrozine.
Triazinamide provides the triazinone parent ring, while 3-pyridinecarboxaldehyde supplies the pyridine ring. The target product is obtained after condensation reaction.
Market Status
Over 90% of triazinamide capacity is applied to produce pymetrozine, and the rest is used in pharmaceuticals, flame retardants and other fields.
The global annual demand for pymetrozine is about 12,000 to 15,000 tons. As the world’s largest producer and exporter, China drives steady growth of demand for triazinamide.
